    Wife of Egbeda LG Boss, Monsurat Sanda Leads Campaign Against Sexual, Gender Based Violence

    The wife of Egbeda local government chairman, Alhaja Monsurat Abiola Sanda in collaboration with the office of Her Excellency, Engr Mrs Tamunomini Makinde today led campaign against gender based violence (GBV) walk to Gbagi market.

    The walk was part of 16-day campaign against sexual and gender based violence which started inside SDP building, Iwo road to Bola Ige International market Gbagi.


    Wife of Egbeda local government chairman who was represented by the wife of the vice chairman/Political Head, Ajorosun LCDA, Alhaja Idowu Oladebo-Simple, in her remark, said the campaign was to draw attention of the public to vulnerable groups in the state and to demonstrate that Gender Based Violence will not be tolerated any longer.

    While addressing the gathering, the representative of Her Excellency said, the walk was to sensitive the public against gender based violence, saying there is need to unite and prevent violence against women in the state.

    Stressing that the walk was not only to raise awareness, but also consolidate steps already taken by the state government towards eradicating gender based violence in the society.

    She later maintained that the walk would serve as a reminder that fight against gender based violence requires not only people’s attention but a call to action for the society to unite against the issue of violence that has affected many life’s.

    A sign post of campaign against gender based violence erected at Bola Ige International market Gbagi entrance was later unveiled by Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K Abass in attendance of Alhaja Moriyeba Adetunji, Alhaji Lawal, Babaloja of Gbagi market with market executives.

    Also in attendance were the wives of the councilors, supervisors, special Assistants, NCWS, NGOS, among others.
