Makinde Donates 18-seater Bus to Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Sunday donated a brand new bus to the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo.

The Governor, who was represented by his Executive Assistant on General Administration, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe describes the Governor’s gesture as a demonstration of his commitment towards assisting the service of God and indeed humanity. His words:

“This 18-seater bus is being donated today the 17th day of January, 2021 on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo as a demonstration of Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment towards assisting the service of God and indeed humanity.”

“This is just one aspect of his humanitarian efforts to the people and it must be noted that the gesture of the Governor transcends any religious divides. Although GSM was born and raised within the Anglican Communion, he has been known for his support to both the Muslim and the Christian communities as well as other stakeholders in the society long before he became the Governor of Oyo State.”

Speaking further, Ogedengbe noted that a couple of days ago, His Excellency donated one 18-seater bus each to the state chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to enhance the discharge of the duties by the Labour unions.

“In the same vein, the expectation of His Excellency is that this vehicle will be used to facilitate the movement of members and workers in the church from place to place as they carry out their services unto God and indeed unto the good people of Oyo State.”

“His Excellency believes that the work of building our society should not be left to the government alone, the contributions of our religious institutions, labour union, civil society organisations and other non state actors are critical for the progress of any state.”

“This donation should therefore be seen as an expression of the faith of His Excellency in the good works that our religious institutions are doing and as an encouragement for them to do more towards the building of good values and character in our people.”

The vehicle keys were subsequently received by the Provost of the church, Reverend Wale Adebiyi in the presence of some of the church leaders and members.

The Provost appreciated the Governor and prayed for him, his family and his administration

The excited members were seen entering the bus to take pictures while praying for the Governor as they inspected the vehicle.
