The first objective of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration is the provision for the common defense and he is doing that effectively.
The Provision made by the Governor towards Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun, which is a security outfit based in Oyo State is responsible for curbing insecurity at the nooks and cranny of OyoState.
Honourable Ayoola Kolawale O made this known in a press release made available to the press men where he stated that human security depends on a system where each rational individual calculates that it is more profitable not to rebel.
Arabambi who is a member of Afijio Local Government caretaker committee, noted that Amotekun outfit cut across the six states of the southwest and since the launching of the Amotekun by the state governor, the record of achievement made by the corps is enormous. The law that established Amotekun allows them to make arrest, investigate and hand over the prosecution of suspects to the police. The effective collaboration is expected from the Nigeria Police so as to ensure peace reign in our society.
1,500 personnel of Amotekun corps has been deployed across all the wards in Oyo State and their exercises has been very effective in combating the insecurity in our communities
Arabambi in his release also commended the effort of the State Governor, the Chairman of the Oyo State Security Network, Amotekun, Gen. Ajibola Toogun (retd.), who was Defence Adviser in the Nigerian Embassy, Cotonou in 1979; a Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander and former Director of Military Intelligence during the military era for his proactiveness and dedication to the task at hand. He also commended the effort of the Chief Commandant and all the commandants across the 33 local governments of Oyo State for their efforts on issue of security in the state.
The chairmanship aspirant implored other security agencies to support and bring stability to Oyo State. People should not look at Amotekun as being independent. The synergy with other security agencies in Oyo State to bring stability, security and peace of mind to our state is what we needed at this time.
