Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju and the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede, on Monday obtained their expression of interest and nomination forms of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While Hon. Adepoju is seeking reelection to the House of Representatives under the platform of the APM, Hon. Akorede is contesting for Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The duo was accompanied by their aides, party supporters and leaders from across the federal constituency during the exercise held on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Hon. Adepoju expressed confidence in securing another mandate from the people of Igbo-Ora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan, noting that his achievements in the last three years have positioned him favourably ahead of the next election. He said the support and goodwill he continues to enjoy from constituents remain a major source of encouragement.

The federal lawmaker appreciated his supporters and constituents for their show of support, urging Nigerians to support the APM at all levels in the next general elections in order to reset the hope of the most populous black nation on earth.

Ibarapakan also paid tribute to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing him as a leader with a difference who has remained resolute despite attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

In his own remarks, Hon. Akorede appreciated the people of Ibarapa North for giving him the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Local Government over the last five years. He expressed optimism that with the support of the people of Ibarapa North and Ibarapa Central, his aspiration to represent the constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly would become a reality.

The local council boss assured party members and supporters that he would remain committed to grassroots development and quality representation if elected into the state assembly next year.

The duo also extended appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde, Otunba Seye Famojuro, the state and local government executives of the party for their support and contributions to his political journey.

The candidates promised to be home this Thursday, May 21, 2026 to host all leaders of the party, political functionaries party executives and other stakeholders to a constituency meeting where important matters will be discussed among which will be the official breaking of the news of decampment and party nomination to stakeholders in the community.

Shortly after obtaining the nomination forms, the two APM aspirants paid a courtesy visit to Hon. (Chief) Ademola Obafemi Ojo, the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, to seek his blessings. Hon. Ojo, a former two-term Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, assured the duo of victory in the 2027 elections, reiterating that Governor Makinde’s performance across Oyo State has laid a solid foundation for the success of candidates associated with his political ideology.

Among party stakeholders who accompanied Hon. Adepoju and Hon. Akorede during the exercise were Hon. Makanjuola Aborode, Hon. Funmilayo Orisadeyi, Hon. Bolaji Shiba, Hon. Ebenezer Oni, Hon. Nafisat Gbadegesin, among others.
