Makinde’s Aides Appeal to Staff of Oyo Water Corporation to Shelve Planned Strike

An appeal has gone to the staff of the Water Corporation of Oyo state to thread the line of peace, patience and not violence in pursuing their demands.

The Executive Chairman Water Corporation of Oyo State, Dr Adebayo Adepoju made this appeal at a stakeholders meeting organized to resolve the pending issue with Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees (AUPTRE).

Briefing relevant stakeholders at the meeting, the Chairman revealed that the corporation had outstanding deductions arising from a backlog of deductions incurred by the past administration in the state and the increment in the minimum wage by His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde in January ,2020.

He stated that on his assumption of office as the Chairman of the corporation, two different memos had been written to his Excellency for intervention and bail out which he had been graciously approved .

According to the chairman, the first batch of the approval had been accessed. While the monetary value of the second batch of the intervention fund approved would be accessed in the next couple of days.

Speaking further, Dr Adepoju assured all stakeholders present in the meeting that the leadership of the corporation has not been resting on its oars but vigorously attempting to proffer solutions to all the concerns raised by the leadership of the various unions

In their separate remarks, the Special Adviser to his Excellency on Labour, Comrade Titilola Sodo, Executive Assistant on Security matters; Compol Sunday Odukoya and Director of cooperative in Oyo state all called on the staff to embrace dialogue and not violence.
