OYCSDA Disburses Funds To Communities For Water And Sanitation Projects

 

The Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), on Tuesday distributed cheques to fourteen communities to access drinkable water and provide toilets for some public schools.

This gesture, according to the Chairman of the agency, Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga was targeted at nipping in the bud, cases of cholera water-borne diseases as well as other communicable diseases that have been reported in some States in Nigeria.

Adeaga notes that the fund is part of the NIgeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) intervention projects to cater for fourteen communities across Oyo State in the areas of education, water and sanitation, health and erosion control.

“The fourteen communities have earlier been given funds for the commencement of construction and renovation of classrooms, culverts, community health centers among others, but today, they were given another cheques for drilling of boreholes and construction of toilets in the schools concerned.

“We target these projects as directed by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, that all hands must be on deck to ward off cholera, water-borne diseases and to put an end to open defecation.

“The benefiting communities will immediately embark on the projects according to the dictate of the agency’s Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, as the community members have been saddled with enough knowledge after our initial training to embark on the projects.”

Among the communities are Lagbedu-Orile at Ogo-Oluwa local government, Olorunsogo-Ifesowapo at Ogbomoso North local government, Oremeji Community at Ona-Ara local government and Opeodu-Alapata-Oja Baale community at Lagelu local government.

Others are Irewolede community at Ogbomoso South local government, Abebi-Opo Yeosa- Ifesowapo community at Ibadan North-West local government, Oorelope community at Oorelope local government, Okan Awuru community at Saki East local government and Irawo Parapo community at Atisbo local government.

The benefiting communities also include Lagun community at Lagelu local government, Olorunbawase Oke-Odo community at Ibarapa central local government, Idera Oluwa community, Ibarapa North East local government, Aroro Makinde community at Akinyele local government as well as Kobomoje-Ogundepo-Ogundeji community at Ibadan South East local government area.
