As the 2027 general elections loom, one name from the heart of Ibadan is commanding attention — Hon. Ibrahim Ajiboye, popularly known as Omo Iya Eleja.
With deep roots in the local community, he has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives, seeking to represent Ibadan Northeast/Southeast Federal Constituency.
Ajiboye’s campaign is built on a simple but powerful premise: effective federal representation must translate into tangible development on the ground.
He contends that leadership at the national level should go beyond speeches and policy statements; it must deliver visible improvements in education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic opportunities for ordinary citizens.
“My decision to contest is motivated by the desire to bring the concerns of our people directly to the national legislature.”
“Federal policy should never be distant from the realities of everyday life. Representation must yield measurable results for communities,” he said.
Omo Iya Eleja’s extensive experience at the grassroots sets him apart. From supporting small traders in Ibadan markets to launching youth empowerment initiatives, his record demonstrates practical solutions to challenges that reflect broader national issues, including unemployment, limited access to capital, and educational gaps.
Political analysts argued that candidates with strong local connections and the ability to navigate national policy debates often become influential voices in the House of Representatives.
Ajiboye’s emphasis on linking federal resources to local priorities, such as infrastructure projects, educational development, and economic empowerment programmes, positions him as a bridge between Abuja and the streets of Ibadan.
Beyond development, Ajiboye stresses unity and collective action as essential for progress.
“Strong representation requires that communities speak with one voice at the federal level. Through effective advocacy, we can ensure that policies passed in Abuja have a meaningful impact at home,“ he said.
For constituents, his vision promises practical outcomes: improved roads, enhanced educational opportunities, modernised market facilities, and youth employment schemes. Ibadan Northeast/Southeast, in his view, is not merely a constituency, it is a blueprint for how local knowledge can inform national solutions.
As the elections draw closer, all eyes are on whether this grassroots leader can leverage his proven record to shape national policy and deliver the results he pledges for his people.
In Omo Iya Eleja, Ibadan Northeast/Southeast may have a representative ready to translate local insight into meaningful federal action.
