JUST IN: Group Commends Makinde’s Initiative On PMS, Alleges ex-NURTW Boss Ejiogbe of Sabotage

Greater Oyo State Association, a group championing peace and tranquility of the State on Friday commended the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on the initiative behind the setting up of the Park Management System (PMS) which other States like Lagos, Ogun, Ondo amongst others have copied for better transportation management.

While many within the State and across the length and breadth of Southwest States are commending the Governor and appreciating him for bringing all stakeholders in the transport sector together under Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa (a.k.a. Tommy) as State Chairman of PMS, an erstwhile kingpin of the outlawed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Abideen Olajide (Ejiogbe) is planning to sabotage the peace of the State.

In a statement signed and released to the press by the State coordinator of Greater Oyo State Association, Johnson Adegbite, the group alleged Ejiogbe of insatiable greed to control the motor parks through the back door.

Adegbite recalled that Ejiogbe who was formerly NURTW State Chairman was offered a slot in the PMS but later turned it down for his insatiable greed to run the affairs of motor parks through the back doors.

Not only that, Ejiogbe having lost in the battle at the national politics of the NURTW after supporting Tajudeen Baruwa who obviously lost the leadership of the Union to Tajudeen Agbede is hellbent on frustrating the PMS in the State.

“Our group commends the Governor for his initiative on PMS and more importantly, for appointing Tommy as the PMS State Chairman.

“Nobody knew that the PMS would engender peace and tranquility in motor parks because of the ugly past of transporters and their unionists over the years.

“The thuggery and violence that are always associated with the functions of motor boys have been eradicated since Tommy took over the PMS.

“But a certain Ejiogbe because he lost with the people he supported at the Federal level in their NURTW is trying to frustrate all efforts of the Governor and the PMS under Tomiwa.

“All the stakeholders; people in the transport Unions are okay and happy with the PMS arrangement but only him (Ejiogbe) appears frustrated and he is hellbent on frustrating the efforts of the State Government.

“And all the younger ones within the NURTW are tired of his antics. Therefore, we are imploring the police and other law enforcement agents to be watchful of Ejiogbe in order not to precipitate crisis and unnecessary tension in Ibadanland again,” Adegbite warned.
